Why Klartext?
I love reading. And I used to love reading online articles. Long-form pieces, essays, interviews, slow journalism. But more and more I found myself too distracted to truly focus on them.
The web has become a noisy place - full of ads, pop-ups and cookie banners. Notifications, messages and other apps fighting for my attention. At some point, I realized I had stopped reading deeply altogether. I was scanning, skimming, and saving “for later”. But later never came.
That's why I built Klartext. A simple tool to help me focus on reading again.
Reading without the noise
Klartext converts web articles into clean and beautifully typeset PDFs - made for e-ink devices or tablets. It removes everything that interrupts your concentration - ads, sidebars, visual clutter - leaving only what matters: the text.
You can convert single articles or bundle several into a collection - your own curated magazine. Links become footnotes, images disappear (you don't need them). Choose between single or multi-column themes or include a sidebar for notes.
For paywalled or subscription-only content, use the bookmarklet to convert pages directly from your browser. Add Klartext to your phone's homescreen to directly share articles from any app.
A tool for calm, intentional reading
There are no accounts, no ads, and no distractions - just you and the text.
Once or twice a week, I gather the articles I truly want to read, add them to a collection, and send the PDF to my reMarkable. I read them the next morning before touching my phone, when my mind is still quiet and there's nothing to check, reply to, or refresh.
Give it a try! Find a few pieces worth your attention, send them to Klartext and read them offline, undistracted.
